Collection: Riot Draft Rules

Tournament Format- Riot player drafts 5 Game Guarantee: 3 pool play games to determine seeding then move into a double elimination championship bracket.

Riot Mini draft and Riot Senior drafts are 4 game guarantee. 2 pool play games to determine seeding then move into double elimination championship bracket.

Pitch Arc: 4ft-10ft (From Ground). Pump Fakes are allowed. Pitching screens are not allowed except in Riot Senior drafts. Pitchers are allowed up to 3 feet behind the mound to pitch. Pitcher does not have to toe the pitching mound.

Pitch Count: 1-1 With a Courtesy Foul

Home Runs: 6 then Out

Lineup: - Each team must present their lineup to the other team before 1st pitch. Each team will be supplied with a Scorebook, to keep score and keep track of the opposing team. Each team MUST bat all players. However only (10) will take the field. No (2) of the same sex may sit the bench at the same time. There is NO set way to do you lineup (This is for 9/3 ratio or 8/4 ratio). Ratio for the draft will be determined before we draft teams.

Courtesy Runner: 1 runner per inning PER GENDER plus a runner for the pitcher. 


ADA runner (Amputee) gets a runner for each at bat that will run from home plate for them. The runner will be the last out of the same sex.

COED Rules: Females can play anywhere in the field.  Females CAN be thrown out at 1st base from an outfield position in any way. There is No Coed Line. Only 1 male and 1 female may EH. Cannot have 2 females EH so that a team can have more males in the field.

60 Min Time Limit finish the inning for pool play and bracket play. 60 min Time Limit for Championship or IF Game in Main Bracket

Walks: If a guy is walked the girl behind him has the OPTION to hit or walk. IF the girl decides to hit the guy only goes to 1st base, if she walks, he goes to 2nd. Male player that walks must touch first base when the female walk too.

Extra Innings: played as normal

Balls: Must Use Worth Super Duper WSL stamped 44/400 softballs or ball provided by the director. Each team is provided 6 men’s balls. Women’s balls are held by the umpire.

If the offensive team THROWS IN an illegal ball the defensive team can appeal the ball before the 1st pitch with this illegal ball is thrown. If the ball is determined illegal, the offensive team will have the ball removed and a team warning will be issued.

In the scenario where an illegal ball is thrown in by the offensive team, and the defensive pitcher has pitched the ball and the batter puts the ball in play. The defensive team would need to appeal before pitching to the next upcoming batter.  If the ball is determined illegal, the hit would be ruled a dead ball out  and the batter on base will be out. If the ball is appealed after the next batter comes up and is pitched to, that batter in the box would be out.

Bats: Must use USSSA stamped 240 bats. No banned suncoast bats. No senior bats 

f a player hits a ball using an illegal bat, and the play is protested by the defending team, before the next pitch, the play will be ruled as a DEAD BALL OUT.  The offensive team will be issued a TEAM WARNING. 

If an illegal bat is used again in that game, by the same team, the play will be ruled a DEAD BALL OUT and the hitter will be ejected from the remainder of the game. The ejected player’s spot in the lineup will be an automatic out each time that spot comes up in the lineup

Roster Additions: NO additions will be made to any roster unless tournament director adds them. In the event a player drops leading up to within 1 week of event, the tournament director will make best attempt to fill the empty roster spot with someone who is on the official waiting list.

Injuries: If a player gets hurt during a game and cannot continue playing the next time that player comes up in the lineup it will be recorded as an out, every time after that will NOT be counted as an out and that player will be skipped. A player who cannot bat cannot play the rest of the tournament.

If a team or injured player wishes to have the injured player continue playing later that game or later games of the tournament, the player must remain in the lineup and take an out for each AB they miss. 

Ejections: Any player ejected is an automatic out for rest of that game. It will be up to the director if player can continue playing in the tournament. If the player cannot continue the player will not be counted as an out and player will be skipped. The player is not eligible to play the rest of the tournament and ineligible for prizes. 

“NO-SHOW” SCENARIOS

Pool Play Games

If a player doesn't show up to 1st pool play game, the team can play the game WITHOUT that player in the lineup. If by end of the first pool play game the player has not been in contact with the team or director they will immediately be removed from the roster/tournament and no longer eligible to win any prizes. If a player has contacted team but hasn’t arrived by time second pool play game they will be placed in the 12th spot. When spot comes up team will decide to take an out or remove the player. Once decision has been to take out or remove player it is for the whole game. If team chooses to remove the player they are done for the whole tournament and not eligible for prizes.

Bracket Play games 

If a player is not present for a bracket play game the team will place the player in the 12th spot in the lineup. When the spot in the lineup comes up if player is not there the team will decide to take an out or remove player from the roster. If player is removed they are no longer eligible to play in the tournament and not eligible for prizes.

Awards/Prizes: If you or your team wins an award/prize, you must be on the current roster to claim.

Weather: Tournament director reserves all rights to modify any game to a 1-pitch, shorten game times or eliminate play-in games and/or 0-2 bracket games in the event of time constraints due to Weather.

In the event of bad weather or anything that forces a tournament cancellation, no refunds will be given in the event of cancellation after the pool play games but before the conclusion of the tournament. The top 2 remaining teams in the championship bracket will receive the prizes. If there are more than 2 undefeated teams still remaining, we will determine the 1st and 2nd place teams off of run differential from throughout the whole tournament (pool play and bracket play).

Umpires and (first 6 men’s balls will be provided) by the tournament director. Women’s balls are provided by the director to the umpires.

Everyone MUST be in the lineup and play in the game.
